The campus strategic plan introduces the goal of enhancing diversity among students, faculty and staff:

We need to be more receptive to difference and more aware of it as a source of strength and appeal, not an impediment to the maintenance of a status quo. We are becoming global, both in composition and influence, and we need to develop a competence that reflects this if we are to continue to advance together.
